Beef
Eat Oregon First raises Cascade Red cattle at Laney Family Farms East and West. The Cascade Red is the first new cattle breed in the US in almost fifty years and is a uniquely Oregon creation. Cascade Red foundation cattle are a Pinzgauer-Red Angus cross. The hybrid allows the positive qualities in both lines (marbling, tenderness, structure) to fully develop in a new beef animal that shows the awesome characteristics of these two internationally famous breeds. We utilize an Oregon finish on these cattle, grass from the ranch and Scottish Wheat that we also grow especially for our Cascade Red herd. All Cascade Red cattle are Tri-local, born and raised exclusively on the ranch and fed only grass and grain raised there too. Cascade Red beef is dry aged 14-21 days, USDA processed, and is available in whole and half beef as well as chef primals.
